There are a number of noble endeavors that exist in the world but the bigger names always seem to elevate it to greater levels than before. For example, I don’t think that many people would have considered growing organic crops to be something great but there is a lot of value to it. One of the names that have taken notice of such value is Oprah Winfrey, who I’m certain everyone knows about. What will the results of her foray into such farming come out to be?
An article on Pacific Business News talked about how Oprah would get into growing organic crops thanks to the work done on her farm in Upcountry Maui. Not only does she have the means to produce an array of vegetables but a few names were already tossed out into the open. Such titles as “Oprah’s Organics” and “Oprah’s Harvest” have become registered trademarks. This level of work is great and one deserving of attention from networks on the matter such as Colle Farmers Market.
Oprah has seemingly always had a charitable nature about her and I think you can see this through how she managed the farm in the past. There was a time when she simply gave away the vegetables and the movement seemed to grow in terms of popularity. Bob Greene, a fitness expert and close friend of Oprah’s, said that this will change in due time. It’s the kind of endeavor which can produce a number of profits but I have my concerns about this business venture of hers.
I think that Oprah has the opportunity to make this a great farm but it has to be done with the consumers in mind. The big problem that Prince Charles of Wales had with his own market was that the vegetables and miscellaneous crops that he grew were not priced well. They were deemed too expensive even by organic standards, meaning that people couldn’t afford them. Oprah should keep this in mind if she’s serious about making the most of her farm as possible.
Do I think that Oprah can follow through when it comes to growing organic crops? I strongly believe that she can because of the resources that, in theory, she can easily get her hands on. She will be able to afford some of the best, which means that her market can become one of the most profitable. However, this will not be seen if she doesn’t take into consideration a number of setbacks that had fallen upon potential farmers in the past; these could make or break her work.
