PHP Contact Form and Form Validation | Dreamweaver Tutorial – 1 of 2

In fact, its one of the most heavily requested tutorials that I get. Its so difficult to find a really decent contact form that not only looks professional and contemporary but is also safe and secure, a contact form that protects your website from the threat of email injection but also validates the form automatically to save you a ton of admin work cleaning out your email inbox from half filled messages. Youre also looking for a contact form that can be easily adapted to fit any website. So were going to make a big bold form with big form input areas a large text area and generously sized submit button. But thats not all. Well also be attaching an amazing form validation system, well style a thank you message that will appear after the form has been sent and then well learn how to write a simple inline JavaScript redirect to send people to a page of your choice after the form has been submitted. google + gplus.todreamweavertutorial ************************************************** COMMON TROUBLE SHOOTING ISSUES ************************************************** IMPORTANT: If your problem is not on the list below then if you want a reply to your <b>...<b>

  1. James, your are a great instructor. Your step-by-step, clear-to-the-point method is very easy to follow and get great result. I am grateful for sharing your expertise with us novices. Thanks!

  2. Haven’t watched how James does it but you can check if the name,the e-mail and the text is set if(isset($_post[‘text’])) and so on for the e-mail and the fullname.So if that thing is set then you continue.And that’s a simple way of doing it.

  3. alright james,i could do with some help but its abit to much to post on here do u have an email to contact you on ?

  4. when i type an email in the email field it says this field is required please help!!!!

  5. Great tutorial.
    Few problems I am having.
    On design view I don’t see anything I am doing. The only thing that changed was the background colour.
    On I.E and Chrome only full name field is inside formwraper even though in live view on dreamwever they all are.
    Help. What am I doing wrong?

  6. Hi James, great tutorial but it does not appear to be working for me. I have entered the code exactly as you say (I think) but the formWrap and form divs are showing as invalid markup and are therefore not receiving the css styles…. Any ideas please?

  7. Hi James, Please help me. With my button when we were coding the #form #submit the button diddn’t change from what it was before? Please help me!! My code is

    #form #submit {
    font-family:Arial, Hailvertica, sans-serif;
    text-shadow:1px 1px 1px #999;

  8. Is this codable in notepad or textedit?? I rather not have to buy dreamweaver just for this

  9. Can someone please help me?

    – When i added the CSS rules (13:00) and he’s talks about split verticaly, mine wont. i cant even view in browser ect. and it seems, that the "contactform.css" is not even linked with "contact.html" because when i change the colors and open the html, there is no difference..

    please help me.

  10. yes that sounds like you have not connected your css file properly. attach it. doa google search to find out how or look through any of my videos where i attach style sheets all the time

  11. html and css and php are not patents of adobe. Dreamweaver does not create special code that no-one else can use.

  12. send me a pm with the link and ill help you. otherwise you will need to check your markup is correct (it isn’t and you have made a typing error)

  13. Thats not exactly my question. I know Adobe cant patent html/css coding cuz my site for my youtube channel is a work in progress and almost done (thanks to @EdzJohnson).
    My q was: would it get annoying without word colors, code spell check/drop-down-menu-as-you-type, design mode etc.??

    (When i get my macbook when it comes out, and i start making a lot of videos ill probly use bbedit or something free if its suitable enough for me)

  14. Thank you for this really clear and easy to follow tutorial. I’m a beginner at Dream Weaver and was able to follow this all the way through. I’ve managed to put it within a page on my website. I’m just wondering what you would suggest would be the best way to have the form centred on my page rather than aligned to the left as you have it. I’ve tried various ideas but no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks again.

  15. Thank you so much, this works great! Definitely helpful!
    I have one small question… Do you know how I can integrate this with the design of my site? I have a header, a left menu bar, and I’d like to have the form to the right… How can I integrate the .php file with my ’empty’ contact .html file?
    Again, many thanks for taking the time to do this!

  16. Absolutely fantastic tutorial. You explain it all very clearly, thanks!

  17. Is it possible to open this form up in a lightbox so I don’t have to navigate away from the page. I’ve tried everything and still can’t get it to pull up.

  18. this video is soo good, you have actually helped me soo much
    thank you for that

  19. Great tutorial!!!
