The method I described in this video is just one way to go about it, however, there are many ways you can build a custom solar panel. Some use aluminum or plastic frames, but I found for a beginner, working with wood would probably be easier and cheaper. Overall, building a solar panel can be fun, but there are many factors that play into building a solar panel, and I as well still have an extreme amount to still learn about it. So I hope that for those wanting to learn more about solar energy and wanting to take the adventure of building their own solar panel will find this video very useful.   1. Your connecting your – and + together on all cells so your multipling voltage but your amperage for the whole panel would be the same as only one cell right? If i remember right all your + and – hooked together multiply voltage if all your – to – and + to + you would be multipling amperage not voltage? I know enough about electricity go get me into trouble.

  3. dude you’re my hero. These videos are great. I think i’ll be ordering my first cell kit soon! These videos helped me realized it’s not an impossible project, and with these types of cells, a panel like this isn’t insanely expensive :)!

  11. Having some solder on the tip of the iron helps to conduct the heat into what you’re trying to melt solder onto.

    If you have a wet sponge, you can easily melt a bit of solder onto the iron tip and then wipe the excess solder onto the wet sponge so that the tip remains with the silver color of the solder.

  14. Where I got lost is how did you connect the 3rd string and when it is finally connected, what voltage should it produce?

  15. Can you explain the positive and negative ends and which ones the are. Are they the tops or bottoms? Are all the tops on one end of the panel or is it mixed up with top and bottom?
